The short version: we collect almost nothing, we never sell your information, and we only email people who ask us to.
Lakeview Oasis is a vacation rental owned and operated by a Michigan limited liability company. In this policy, "we," "us," and "our" mean that company and the people who manage the home. This explains what we do with information from this website. It's short on purpose, because we collect very little.
Only what you choose to give us. If you sign up for our guest list, we collect your first name and email address. That's it. We don't ask for or store payment details, mailing addresses, or ID on this website. Reservations and payments are handled by the property manager, whether you book directly or through a platform like Airbnb or Vrbo, under their own terms and privacy practices, not through this site.
We use Google Analytics, a service of Google LLC, loaded through Google Tag Manager, to see which pages guests find useful and how the site is performing. It stays off until you choose Allow, for every visitor wherever you are. If you choose No thanks, or never choose, Google Tag Manager and Google Analytics don't load at all.
When you allow it, Google Analytics sets first-party cookies (named _ga and _ga_ followed by an ID) and collects the pages you view, how you reached the site, how you move through it, your device and browser type, and your approximate location (down to city level) derived from your IP address. We use this to improve the site, not to identify you personally. Google Analytics keeps event-level data for 2 months and user-level data for up to 14 months. We don't use advertising features: Google Signals is off and our analytics isn't linked to any advertising account. If we ever add another tool like this, it will also stay off until you allow it, and we'll name it here first. Your choice is saved in your browser's local storage, not in a cookie.
You can change or withdraw your choice at any time with the button above or the Privacy choices link at the bottom of every page. Choosing No thanks after Allow stops analytics and deletes its cookies.
Some US states, including California, Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut and Texas, give residents rights over their personal information, such as the right to know, delete or correct it, and to opt out of its sale, its sharing, or its use for targeted advertising. We don't sell your personal information, we don't share it for cross-context behavioral advertising, and we don't use analytics data for targeted advertising. Analytics runs only with your prior consent, and you can withdraw it at any time as described under Privacy choices. We use the information described here to run and improve the site. You can contact us to access, correct or delete information we hold about you.
If you join our guest list, we use your email to send occasional updates, local tips, and offers on future stays. Nothing more. We only email people who opt in right here on the website.
Our guest list is completely separate from your reservation. Bookings are handled by the property manager, either directly or through a platform. If you reserved through Airbnb or Vrbo, all booking changes, payments, and messages stay on that platform. Joining the list is voluntary and has nothing to do with your reservation.
We don't sell, rent, or trade your information. We rely on a few trusted services to run the site and send email, such as our website host and email provider, and they only handle your information to provide those services to us.
You can unsubscribe from our emails at any time using the link in any message, or by contacting us, and we'll remove you promptly. If you live somewhere with specific privacy rights, such as the EU or California, you can contact us to access or delete the information we hold.
We use reasonable measures to protect the little information we keep. No website can promise perfect security, but we keep what we collect to a minimum on purpose.
This website is meant for adults planning or enjoying a stay. It isn't directed at children, and we don't knowingly collect information from them.
